Fulbright TGC Unit Plan
Understanding The Diary of Anne Frank through a Global Lens

How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.    - Anne Frank

Welcome to my Global Unit Plan centered around "The Diary of Anne Frank." This poignant and powerful work offers a unique window into the life of a young girl during one of history's darkest periods. Through Anne's words, we are transported to a time of conflict, resilience, and hope, allowing us to explore themes of identity, humanity, and the impact of war on individuals and societies.

This unit focuses on “The Diary of Anne Frank” as a means to explore themes of resilience, identity, hope, and human rights during the Holocaust.  Students will engage in discussions and activities that align with the 3 domains of global competency: Investigate the World, Recognize Perspectives, and Communicate Idea, while also connecting to the UN Sustainable Development Goal #16 - Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.

Through a blend of interdisciplinary activities—including literature analysis, historical research, and creative projects—this unit encourages students to reflect on their own identities and the significance of their voices in a global society. We aim to inspire critical thinking and compassion as students explore the universal themes of hope, resilience, and the importance of standing up against injustice.
